We came in for rules, jobs and assignments then left to do it. We tasted lettuce and
to me it was blah. The reason it was green was because of chlorophyll. I was in the
“taste” group.

Today at the farm, the first thing we did was take the field mouse that Farmer Mark
caught in the barn. When we let it go it jumped on to Carina’s foot and Heather’s
arm. Then, we bent kudzu vines into wreaths, and tied rosemary and flowers on
with twine. They looked great in the end.

Today upper Elementary gave chicken training to parents. First was introduction
from Carina. Second eggs from Jordan, Lydia, and Carina. Third bedding from
Andrew and Heather, food from Jahquan and Alex and water by Trevor and Violet.
Last but not least was General information. That was a good experience for upper
Elementary.

Today we went to the farm. But before I can tell you what we did there, I have to tell
you about the egg business. We created an egg business, selling eggs for $5 a dozen.
I know it sounds expensive, but we’re raising this money for our school. If we make
it less than $5 we won’t break even. We sent out a Market Research Questionnaire
to find out what our buyers wanted. We analysized potential earnings and expenses
to find out how much money we have to charge the eggs for. We are going to have
an egg sell tomorrow. We made ads for it. We developed a manual for the weekend
chicken care and we’re going to use it to train parents on the 29 th at 10:00.

At the farm, we tasted the radish butter and arugula pesto that the Lower
Elementary made. I think they were both very tasty. Most people preferred the
radish butter.

We practiced giving the chicken care training. We each had one or two parts to
read out. Carina did the introduction. Violet and I did the General Information 1.
Carina, Lydia, and Joydan did eggs. Alex and Jahquan did the food. Andrew and
I did bedding. Then, Trevor and Violet did water. Trevor and Lydia did General
Information 2. Last, Jahquan did the conclusion.

Today at farm we went and did okra. We all went together. For okra we measured,
checked the weather and we assigned jobs. And then we built a compost bin. We
hammered in nails and used a mallet to drive stakes into the ground. After that, we
stayed late for the egg business. We counted our eggs, we had 93. Then we left. We
had a great day at farm.
