Heather - upper elementary

Today we went to the farm.  First we reviewed the farm guidelines, as usual.  After that the upper elementary weeded and harvested the sugar peas.  Then, a beekeeper came in and told us a lot about bees.  She brought an observation hive box for us to look at.  Here is some information we learned.

Workers:  Workers mainly do all the work.  When they're born they automatically know what to do.  They have to visit 1,000 flowers to make one teaspoon of honey!  They store pollen in pockets on their legs.  We got to try some honey.
