We Give and We Receive

When we went to the farm last week we all got charts.  On one side, it said giving, on the other it said receiving.  We all picked one or more things on the farm.  Then we put on the list, things we receive from what we chose and things we give to it.  We could work solo or in group.  I worked with Trevor and Violet.  Violet had chosen to do chickens and tomatoes.  We did stuff like, you know, we give chickens food, water, love, a place to live.  They give us fertilizer and bug-eating services.  For tomatoes, we put that we give them water, fertilizer, and a safe environment.  They give us food, ketchup, pesto, and things to throw at people we don't like.  Then, we all shared our lists with the class.

After this, we received another chart.  This one was called a KWL chart.  K stand for Know, W is Want to know, and L is Learned.  We did K and W, but we're saving L for later.  Me and another small group did ours on the chickens.  After we finished those up, class was over and we left.

Watering the Chickens

I was the first person to lead the water group.  Spencer and I know how to show the new kids.  And after that we washed our hands.  Then we lined up to go back to the school.  The End.

Lower Elementary's First Farm Class of the Year

Today was the first day of farm class.  We made the procedures, and we guessed the names of tools.  Here are the names of some: hula hoe, flat head shovel, pointed shovel, metal rake, cultivator, trowel.  And we tasted some fresh food: okra, peppermint, mint, tomato, chives.
