Zachary - lower elementary

Today we started farm class with our chicken chores. It was fun but  I am really not too interested in chickens. Anyway, after that we peeled carrots that were harvested in the garden last Friday by the primary class. We took turns with the peeler to peel the carrots and apples. Our first juice was made from ginger, carrots, and apples. We all got to sample the juice. I tasted it but did not really like it. Farmer Edwin asked that we all try it and it was ok if we did not like it. It is supposed too be really good for you. The ginger helps with a stuffy nose. Then we made ginger, pear and apple juice and taste tested. I did not like one more than the other. I was not really watching the other students but Ms. Yvonne says that many of the students in fact did like the juices!

Also, Mrs. Hoover told the story of an iris flower that she brought to share with our class. She and Destin went to Texas and dug up some tubular iris roots and planted them in their garden here. The iris flowers bloomed and they are from a 95 year old iris root! The iris flowers were planted by Mrs. Hoover’s grandmother Odessa in 1916 when she was a bride.
